The Kurt Cobain documentary "Montage of Heck" is one of the year's best films, thanks in no part to Dave Grohl. Director Brett Morgen chose to omit Nirvana's drummer from the film, because: "This is not a story about Nirvana. It's about Kurt", he explained to Consequence of Sound earlier this year. "By the way, if people want to know what Dave thinks about Kurt, it's pretty much out there."
For his part, Grohl has yet to even seen the entirety of "Montage of Heck", but it's no ill will towards Morgen. Rather, as he told the Washington Post, he was too "terrified" to watch it.
Grohl's wife came across an airing of the film while he was preparing to go to bed. "All the footage of him as a child, I think that might make me sad, and then the dark stuff at the end I think would bum me out", Grohl said. After 10 minutes, he rolled over and went to sleep.
